“Originally I set out to paint figures with no racial identity. Just people. Just humans, in order to celebrate all humans. Slowly though, over years of painting, my faces and figures developed beautiful variations and now represent all racial identities rather than no racial identity at all.” Pattison says. His fills his canvases with figures that are often heavily outlined in black creating a two-dimensional presentation that is belied by the heavily textural painted surface. His oil paintings of cowboys and western images are multi generational. His small acrylic canvases of Texas music heroes are of a more current time. Price $35 – $2000.
